Sermon delivered by G. Allen Jackson
June 5, 2011
This series continues the premise that great leaders are of necessity great followers. Pastor Allen’s first message related to the Biblical principals and fundamentals of being a great follower – one who is willing and able to listen well, learn and grow. This sermon shares how these principals were lived out in our forefathers in the faith – Biblical ‘innovators’ - people who took ideas that were not widely embraced, and through their lives, shaped a generation or multiple generations: great deliverers such as Abraham, Joseph, Moses. God is calling this generation to become innovators and great deliverers to our families, friends, and coworkers; and in our present culture, the idea that the best possible way to live is being a Christ-follower and helping others to do the same is now ‘innovative’. But to be successful, this will mean following Jesus’ instruction: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” We are called to be great followers.
