Pastor Allen concludes the Advent series with the premise that Christmas celebrates a wondrous beginning – the birth of Jesus whereby God came to live among us. God’s plan for redemption is centered in Jesus, and our journey as Christ-followers begins with Jesus. This message follows a small band of travelers who pursued a star seeking a king and arrived in a stable. From a casual perspective, it seems a disappointing destination, but these journeyers did not experience disappointment - just surprise. Likewise, as we begin to follow the Lord, we may presuppose our destination. Yet truly following the Lord proves He will lead us far beyond what we imagined when we began the journey. We can learn from the Christmas travelers – their search and the distractions that tried to thwart the journey, ensuing divine directions, resultant great joy as they worshipped the new born King of kings. The faithfulness of God guided them their entire journey. God’s faithfulness will also guide us toward His great destinations as we humbly ask the Holy Spirit to help us listen, follow, and gain insight into God’s purposes for our lives and our generation. Great beginnings can lead to even greater endings.
